Our fishing store client had an incredible 2023 in terms of SEO performance and rankings. With 2,506 Australian keywords starting on January 1st, 2023, our client ended the year with 5,789, meaning that organic performance in the top 100 has more than doubled. This has also translated to 24 keywords now showing in the top 3, compared to just 6 at the start of the year. Whilst a reduction in spend did slow down overall growth, the work that we have done, coupled with some algorithm updates on Google’s side, has ensured that this Australian fishing store has been able to grow month-on-month consistently, with December’s rankings increasing by 16.22% over November.

Given that the client had to reduce their budget over time due to some warehouse changes that were out of their control, the Trafficon team had to get creative with what we could do to ensure an upward trajectory. Luckily, whilst the budget had been at a higher point, we had managed to set a very strong SEO foundation in terms of content, links, and optimisations. 

 

Prior to our campaign, the site had almost zero visibility, with several technical issues including broken URL slugs and next to no content that would give Google a chance to properly rank the site. So, with a robust keyword strategy, as well as consistent optimisation, unique blogs, and a highly targeted content strategy, we were able to cast a far wider net than would have been possible prior.
